The New Inner West DCP: An Inside View

Berrys Bay Studio was Council's strategic peer reviewer of the draft Inner West DCP. One plan is replacing three, and this two-hour session is the inside view: how the new document is built and meant to be read, which controls will decide most applications, and how they will be applied in assessment.

What you will learn

  1. Navigate the structure of the new Inner West DCP and how it is read
  2. Apply the general controls that decide most applications
  3. Design to the land-use and neighbourhood chapters
  4. Lodge under the new DCP, including the transition for applications already lodged

Inner West Council is replacing the Marrickville, Leichhardt and Ashfield development control plans with a single Inner West DCP. Berrys Bay Studio was engaged by Council as strategic peer reviewer of the draft: we worked through the document clause by clause with the Council team and presented it to Councillors before exhibition. We know why the controls read the way they do, not just what they say.

This two-hour session gives you that inside view: how the new plan is structured and meant to be read, the general controls that will decide most applications, how to design to the land-use and neighbourhood chapters, and how to lodge under it, including what happens to applications already in the system.

Presented by Lynne Sheridan, former Acting Commissioner of the NSW Land and Environment Court, and Cody Sheridan, Director and Project Lead, who leads the studio's team of town planners.

Free. Lunch provided. Two formal CPD hours, with a certificate emailed after a short assessment. Full program to be confirmed once Council publishes the adopted plan.
